INVERSE by Georgia Hill

A collection of original works and selected prints by Australian designer and illustrator Georgia Hill shows at Jacaranda Images as part of Amman Design Week.

Join Australian artist Georgia Hill in her first international solo exhibition ‘INVERSE’, as she further develops her current practice of hand-generated distortion and experimentation of letterforms.

Hill’s new series of works aim to push past our tendency to seek a clear final message in lettering-based works. Influenced by her own recent interests in structures and material based manipulation, these new artworks explore the shifting value of legibility by utilising themes of cycles, repetition, abstraction and experimental compositions in Hill’s distinctive black and white aesthetic.

Using a range of mediums, her focus lies in generating deliberately open ended letter based artworks that can be read in terms of connections and relationships, time, place and community. These impressions are all shaped by the viewers own personal experiences, creating a moment of reflection in these heavily detailed, often excessive compositions.

As part of Amman Design Week, Georgia will also be applying her unique style to Amman’s urban landscape with an installation at Books@Cafe from 2 to 7 September 2016.
