Big enough for them to see me”
Feed him as you wish,
They won’t see him.
Even if he becomes bigger than you, they won’t see him
He will continue to grow until he becomes a handsome cockroach with a mustache that wraps around your room twice.
Sondos Abuladas, a Jordanian artist and doll maker born in 1997, earned her BA in Visual Arts from
The University of Jordan in 2021, specializing in drawing and painting.
Her work features an array of characters, each embodying different emotions, often expressed with
sadness, but portrayed in an ostentatious and sarcastic manner.
To Sondos, sarcasm is a way of engaging with the world, transforming sorrow into a relatable and
universal narrative. This approach not only makes her art more engaging but also simplifies the
complexities in her subjects.
She places particular emphasis on the eyes, which she considers the mirrors of emotions. By embracing
strangeness and deviating from the ordinary, she finds the freedom to express her innermost feelings
more vividly in her work.
