Jacaranda Images exhibits a collection of sketches in its November show.
How would the Sistine Chapel have looked if Michelangelo hadn’t worked with studies and sketches beforehand? Eugene Delacroix’s Tangiers sketch books document his North Africa journeys and add a very personal view to the emerging Orientalist painting school of the mid 1800s.
An artist’s preliminary drawings give an insight to how they see a painting – the composition, shadows and forms develop in sketches and detailed drawings to bring together the final masterpiece.
Jacaranda Images is please to present a number of artists’ work, that may have developed into masterpieces, or maybe they are beautiful enough on their own. Works in pencil, ink, charcoal, pastel and watercolour are shown in different styles.
